Voice

VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is the technology that converts your voice into a digital signal, allowing you to make a call directly from a computer, VoIP phone or other data-driven device. Simply put, VoIP is phone service over the internet. It is beneficial because it costs less to use and can do more than plain old telephone service (POTS), including features such as:

  • User-friendly, multi-function handsets, or desktop Apps with no need for a traditional handset so you can use your computer as your phone.

  • Apps for your mobile device. Take your office phone with you.

  • Unlimited local and long-distance calling.

  • Fax to email conversion (reduce costs by eliminating the fax landline, but keep your fax number).

  • Have voicemail messages transcribed to email.

SIP, also known as Session Initiation Protocol, is a communications protocol that is used for managing multimedia communication services such as voice and video calls. SIP is an industry standard that enables VoIP. It defines the messages that are sent between endpoints and governs the establishment, termination and other essential elements of a call. SIP can be used to transmit information between two endpoints, or many. In addition to voice, SIP can be used for video conferencing, instant messaging, media distribution and other applications.

A SIP trunk is a virtual version of an analog phone line. It uses a data circuit to join your traditional business phone system, such as a Private Branch Exchange (PBX), to the internet. Using SIP trunks, a provider can connect one, two, or twenty channels to your PBX. If you have an on-premises PBX in your office, a SIP trunk can connect you and allow you to make outbound calls on your existing system. It brings lower cost and scalability of the cloud to your landline system, with no major changes to your infrastructure.

We can also convert your analog devices to VoIP and eliminate outdated and expensive POTS, which includes such things as fax machines, security systems, fire alarm panels and elevators.
